The Advanced Open Water Diver builds upon the skills learned in the Open Water Diver course. This rating is a combination of 24 logged dives (dives during the specialty training count) and certification in four specialties. Click on the individual specialties for details on each individual course. The training is usually conducted as four individual courses of your choice taken at your pace and according to your schedule. Once the four specialty courses are complete, and the minimum dive requirement met (24 dives), you will be signed off as an Advanced Open Water diver.  The amount of classroom time or number of dives may change depending on the specialties chosen. Specialty courses commonly chosen for Advanced Open Water Diver are Deep Diver, Night Diver, Nitrox, and Underwater Navigation.
